1 lb. spareribs
1/2 lb. turnip
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon gourmet powder
1 tablespoon cooking wine
2 tablespoons scallion
1 tablespoon ginger root
10 grains Chinese peppercorn
a pinch of pepper

1) Cut spareribs into pieces and put in an aluminum pot.

Cut turnips into pieces of 1.1/4X1/2X1/4 inches.

Cut scallion in lengths and ginger root in slices.

2) Set cooker with spareribs on fire and add cold water (two parts water to one part ribs). Bring to a boil. Skim broth. Change on low fire and add scallion, ginger root, salt, cooking wine, pepper and Chinese peppercorn. Cover and simmer 1.1/2 hours.

Parboil turnip slices in another pot and transfer to cooker. Simmer for another 1/2 hour or till turnip is done. Stir in gourmet powder and serve.
