1 lb. string-beans
1 heaping teaspoon salt
1/3 teaspoon gourmet powder
1.1/2 tablespoons sesame oil
1 tablespoon fresh ginger root, skinned and minced
1) Break the tips of string-beans and in the same action tear off the fibers, if any, on both sides of the pods. Wash clean and cut or break into 2-inch lengths.
2) Bring water to a boil in a pot. Drop in string-beans to be boiled for 10 minutes or until fairly done. Remove and mix with salt and gourmet powder while the beans are still hot.
3)When the string-beans are cooled, add sesame oil and minced ginger, mix well and serve.
(1) String-beans cooked this way are of a fresh green and appetising with the flavor of ginger.
(2) The same recipe may be used for spinach, thus: Wash and parboil spinach; drain and spread it out in a basin and let cool; mix with salt, gourmet powder, sesame oil and minced ginger root; the resultant dish is called "Ginger-flavored Spinach".
